We are TEAM VEERASWAY: Three old friends, 2400 miles of the most dangerous roads in the world, one terrible vehicle and no bags. What can go wrong?
We are doing this to have an old fashioned adventure. However we thought we should do some good too.
As recounted here Team Member Marsden had a bad brush with some unclean water during a trek in a remote part of India. Clean water has been a cause at the forefront of his mind since then. It was a natural fit to raise funds for an organization that would prevent anyone, especially children, from going through a similar experience. Therefore any funds we raise in the UK will be donated to FRANK Water projects.
FRANK Water was founded by Katie Alcott in 2005, after she visited India and contracted dysentery after drinking dirty water. Coming back to the UK she realized that by selling ethical bottled water she could use the profits to fund new clean water facilities for villages in need. More info is available at here.
The funds raised by our US followers will support Apna Ghar, Inc. which seeks to break the cycle of domestic violence through emergency shelter and transitional housing for victims of domestic abuse. Throughout all of the team member’s lives we have witnessed the horrific and long lasting impact that domestic violence has wrought upon women and children. If by driving an auto-rickshaw across the Indian and Nepalese Himalaya we can do a little to help, then by God we will. More information on Apna Ghar is available here.
To the mountains boys!
